What does it cost to build a Fibreglass Pool?

Transforming your backyard into a personal oasis with a swimming pool is an exciting endeavor. However, navigating the complexities of pool design, materials, and costs can be overwhelming, especially if you're new to the process. In this guide, we'll break down the expenses involved in building a fibreglass pool, shedding light on what your budget can afford and who you can trust to bring your vision to life.

The Fundamentals

Every pool construction project involves fundamental expenses such as excavation, construction, and necessary equipment. Your design preferences and construction decisions play a pivotal role in shaping the total financial investment, along with the geographic factors at play. Let's delve deeper into these aspects to better understand their impact on your budget.

Excavation

The initial step in the process is excavation, which involves gaining access to the site and digging the hole for your new pool. The costs associated with excavation vary based on accessibility. Easier access allows for larger machinery and quicker completion of the job. Additionally, factors such as soil type and terrain complexity, such as steep slopes or irregular spaces, can influence costs.

Depending on your site conditions, there may be a need to repair or relocate service lines. Additionally, expenses for removing excavated material and construction debris must be accounted for. Excavation costs and soil removal are included as standard in all Countrywide Pools quotes, ensuring a comprehensive approach to budgeting for your project.

Fibreglass Pool Construction

Fibreglass pools, being pre-moulded, offer a swift installation process compared to concrete alternatives. Typically, they come at a lower cost, though this can vary based on factors like size and shape. The fibreglass surface boasts durability, being non-porous and resistant to algae, providing a low-maintenance option compared to concrete.

Accessibility plays a significant role in determining installation costs. The pool shell often requires lifting and placing using a crane, with access considerations ranging from lifting over the house to navigating around obstacles like powerlines. Access limitations dictate the size of the crane needed, impacting expenses. Factors such as traffic control for neighborhood interruptions also contribute to overall costs.

At Countrywide Pools, we prioritize transparency in our quoting process. Before commencing any project, we conduct thorough site visits to assess all relevant factors, ensuring accurate and transparent cost estimates for our clients.

Basic elements & equipment

Every pool requires essential components like pool surrounds, fencing, and a filtration system, which includes a pump, filter, and skimmer, along with basic lighting.

At Countrywide Pools, our comprehensive quotes include detailed breakdowns of filtration equipment, ensuring transparency for our clients. We offer optional upgrades and add-ons to tailor the filtration system to your specific needs and budget.

However, pool surrounds and fencing are typically not included in our quotes and would be additional expenses. For your convenience, we can provide temporary fencing (subject to availability) during construction and for 30 days afterward. This gives you time to decide on permanent fencing options and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Fencing costs are determined by the linear meter and vary based on material choice. Expect to invest between $200 and $600 per linear meter, with frameless glass fencing at the higher end of the pricing spectrum.

Pool Surrounds

Costs can vary for your pool surrounds depending on design & material choices and the size of the space. Options for the pool surrounds vary from timber or composite material decking, concrete, tiling or paving. Concrete & brick pavers sit around half the cost of other materials such as limestone, travertine and granite for example.

As a minimum, you can probably allow two or three thousand for a concrete pour and preparation, with the addition of anywhere between $50-100 per square meter for paving, depending on the material.

The added extras

A basic chlorine sanitisation system is a cost-effective option, generally sitting somewhere between $1500 and $3000, and is generally included in all of Countrywide Pools quotes as standard.

Other alternatives to chlorine include minerals pools or saltwater systems, both of which require a little more investment – either in upfront costs or ongoing outlay. You’ll need to do some calculations based on estimated salt or mineral usage for your specific pool to better understand the financial impact and we can help you with these decisions.

Depending on your location, the addition of a heater can really help extend the swimming seasons. You can expect to pay somewhere between $5000-$10,000 depending on your pool size for a heater. Don’t forget to factor in additional energy costs associated with running the heating system. Heaters are included as optional extras on all Countrywide Pools quotes.

We offer an entry model robotic cleaner as standard on all of our quotes, but we also have an optional upgrade option to upgrade to a slighter bigger and better model if required. Other models come with different degrees of automation and functionality that make them more or less suite to specific pool environments and to your desired budget.

Building a swimming pool is a significant financial commitment, and having a comprehensive understanding of the elements and associated costs is crucial for making informed decisions. Beyond the pool itself, expenses can encompass various enhancements such as landscaping, outdoor rooms, kitchens, barbecues, heating systems, seating arrangements, décor, and design elements.

Whether you envision a modest pool or aspire to create a lavish retreat, meticulous planning and prioritization of essential features are essential. This ensures that your dream pool not only enhances your property but also aligns with your budgetary constraints. By carefully assessing available options and considering potential future additions, you can transform your backyard into a haven that perfectly reflects your vision while remaining financially feasible.
